The Hornblower series of books are amazing.

.

I don’t read much at all these days but growing up i was an avid book lover.

One of my favourite series of books to read were the Hornblower series by C.S.Forrester.

A collection of stories about a young officer in the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic wars.

Through acts of bravery and cool use of intellect the officer rose swiftly through the ranks to become a captain at a very young age.

A fantastic book series which you can check out on Amazon.

This link also contains the omnibus DVD of the hornblower saga shown on ITV years ago.

Here’s a youtube video trailer.

As i said an excellent period drama series.

The books are just as good.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Funnily enough I was watching some old episodes of Hornblower on TV last night. I really enjoy anything to do with seafaring. I’ve never read the books (I don’t know why) but I may give them a read now:-)

It’s been several years since i read the books.
But the books go right up to him being captain of a ship of the line and fighting at the battle of trafalger.
